Jonathan Kraft was born on March 30, 1994 in Quesnel, BC Canada. Jon lived in Quesnel, Nanaimo, Edmonton, and Delta before moving with his family to South Africa in 2005. It was while they lived in Johannesburg, South Africa that Jon and his brothers took up swimming.
Matt, Jon, Joel, and Andrew all started swimming at Dorey's Swim Centre and competed with Linrand Swimming Club under Coach Adrian Dorey. Jon also swam with brothers Matt and Joel at the King's School where they competed against the league of South African Christian Schools. Jonathan made his first national appearance in 2006 at the Level 1 South African National Championships in Durban where he won a silver medal in the 100M Backstroke. After returning to Canada with his family in 2008, Jon started swimming with Coaches Tom Rushton and Ben Keast at Windskill Dolphins in Delta, BC. In 2011 Jonathan moved to Vancouver Dolphins at UBC with coach Tom Rushton. After one year of swimming for the UBC Dolphins, Jon Moved to Montreal to train with Tom Rushton at the National Swim Centre.
